// Fortune Favors the Brave

Oh hello.
Yes, it has been a while. Life has been crazy and since working from the office again, I've been trying to stay off the computer outside of office hours.
But -- I wanted to quickly share a silkscreen project I recently completed. Audentes Fortuna Iuvat translates loosely to Fortune Favours the Brave. Hand rendered type was digitized, burned to screen and printed on shirts, canvas bags and paper.
Stay tuned for more screen projects!

// C'est fini!

Upholstering is such an intimate experience... undoing every layer, seam and nail someone had painstakingly assembled, sewn and hammered many, many years ago...

After many hours of de-upholstering (is that a word?), sanding, staining, sewing, stapling... my painstaking work is finally complete!

// New Project

Happy Monday, loves -- hope everyone had a spectacular weekend. What did you get up to?
Between baseball games (can you beat baseball, beer & hot-dogs on a sunny day?), birthday parties & soaking up the sunshine, I embarked on a new [messy/labour intensive/time-consuming/exciting!] project... de-upholstering (is that even a word?) a chair that I recently acquired on Craig's List. I have high hopes for the finished product... I think she will be beautiful.
As I get closer to upholstery phase of the project, I wonder if anyone has any good tips as to where I can get some good/unique upholstery fabric in Vancouver or available online? I'm looking for something bright, maybe floral? Patterned? Thoughts?

// Swooning over lace nails

My new blogging bff Colene, posted a link to this site a few weeks ago... and I've been dreaming of these DIY lace nails ever since. I don't think I've ever used the word "fierce" as fashion adjective before... but I'm going to do it. These nails are fierce.

// Drinking from the bottle

Who says it isn't classy to drink wine from the bottle? I'm in love with these hand cut, sandblasted wine bottle cups/containers from designer Plastolux. What a perfect, unique drinking vessel for a wine bar, restaurant... or your home.

The cups are currently sold out, but will hopefully be available here soon.

// DIY Postcards

Let me start this post by saying that in no way do I advocate destroying books - for any reason. But -- when my husband (isn't he great?) sent me this DIY project from ReNest, I thought it was pretty darned cute. And do the postcards *need* to be made from book covers? No. How about re-purposing old LP sleeves? Pretty promo materials from past events? And why stop at postcards? Table number cards at weddings? Party invitations?

Check out ReNest's full "how to" post here.

I'm back....

...and I'm a wife!

I can quite honestly tell you that the wedding was perfect - which I never thought I'd be able to say. Neither M or I would have changed a thing. Seriously. Perfect :)

I'll be sure to post some images once we get them from our fabulous photographer.

But in the meantime - how rad are these DIY coat hangers?? [via one of my all time favorite blogs]

Ode to the Mason Jar

Of late, I've become rather enamored with the Mason Jar.

Functional, nostalgic & beautiful.

I think my Mason Jar affinity started when M & I ate at at Bandidas Taqueria for the first time. (If you live in Vancouver, or plan on visiting, check it out - amazing vegetarian, home style Mexican food). The restaurant serves water in Mason Jars - I thought it was so cute. Since then, M & I have talked about getting replacing our glassware with Mason Jars - when we finally find a permanent home.

But - I digress.

I think Mason Jars with a thick white candle inside could be a really simple, elegant centerpiece, and would go well with our textured, rustic theme.

Last fabric post... I promise.... maybe.

I feel like every blog I've read over the past few days has had sewn paper & fabric posts. I don't know if it's a sign that I'm meant to make this my theme, or I'm just following some trend... but the fabric thing makes me really happy. As you can tell. By my last few posts. Sorry. I'm done. Promise. Maybe.

sh*tty day, pr*tty design

I would like to start today over.

Wake up early to a steaming hot cup of tea in bed & a kiss from my sweetie. Get up in time to pick up the groceries for tonight's dinner party before needing to starting work (and maybe even get to yoga). Spend the morning being super productive dealing with my overflowing work inbox & attending to the many increasingly urgent freelance issues. Take a nice break mid-day to browse wedding blogs & do a bit of blogging. Finish up the day having been super productive, pour myself a glass of wine and prepare the finishing touches for dinner before guests arrive.

Wouldn't that have been nice. F.

Anyways. The highlight of my day has been finding the fabulous Lovely Morning blog. Oh what joy you have brought me today.

I was first impressed with her beautiful, elegant gocco New Years cards (left). What a smart girl - send NY cards instead of Christmas cards!

I then stumbled onto her ridiculously stunning wedding invites/envelopes (centre/right - click link to view more), featuring calligraphy by the ever talented Love, Jenna.
